The Injuries Board requires treating Doctors to provide medical reports based on treatment records for clients relating to their accident injuries. An award is the value of compensation payable to an individual in respect of a personal injury and includes a figure for general damages for the pain and suffering caused by the accident and special damages for financial loss – both to date and into the future e.g loss of wages, cost of medical care etc.
In 2015 workplace related claims increased by 10.9% and public liability claims increased by 8.4%.
Speaking about the latest figures, Liam Moloney, Personal Injury Solicitor who specialises in injury claims said today “the figures released by the Injuries Board show the rising number of compensation claims. It also confirms again the importance of engaging a Solicitor to assist an injured party in dealing with an injury claim. Your Solicitor can advise you in relation to responsibility and how to find out who the correct legal party responsible for your accident is.
He added “in many cases, people who are injured at work can be employed by a number of different Companies and if the wrong Company is named as the Respondent in The Injuries Board application, a claim could be struck out. There also might be problems with regard to getting evidence such as CCTV footage and accident report forms and getting this evidence at the start of a case is crucial and can mean the difference between winning and losing a case”.
