Dental practitioners have been warning about potentially dangerous dental lights. A US manufacturer, Marus, has become aware that the lens heat (blub) shield on the Marus LuxStar Dental Lights may potentially fall off the dental light if not properly installed after replacing the light bulb. Marus has issued a field safety notice and has developed a self install kit, which will mitigate the risks associated with the issue. The company has been unsuccessful in their attempts to vacate all devices affected by the field safety notice as one of the distributors in Ireland, Dacus Dental has ceased trading. The IMB has advised users as follows:
- Identify the affected devices in their facility.
- Ensure the appropriate personnel are made aware of the notice.
