Honda Motor Company has recalled defective airbags. The problem with the airbags is that they may inflate with too much pressure and as a result send pieces of metal and plastic flying.
The Tokyo based automaker has issued five recalls for defective airbags. The vehicles affected include the Accord, Civic, Odyssey, Pilot, CR-V and other models manufactured in 2001 and 2002.
There have been 20 accidents related to the problem including two deaths in the US in 2009, according to Honda. It is unclear as to when Honda knew that the airbags were affected. All of the vehicles were not recalled the first time as the problem airbags came from one supplier, Takata Corp. Honda had earlier thought that the causes were different, such as the use of incorrect material in the chemical used to deploy the airbags and excessive moisture in the inflator propellant, which is part of what inflates the airbag.
If you have suffered an injury from a Honda airbag you would be entitled under the law of product liability to be compensated for that injury. If the injury has occurred within the past two years you are still in time to make a claim.
