Pfizer Prempro law suits are now being settled. At one time Pfizer faced around 10,000 law suits involving its hormone medications Prempro and Premarin.
Pfizer has acknowledged paying $ 896,000,000.00 for some 60% of cases against it that alleged Prempro, its hormone replacement therapy (HRT) drug caused breast cancer. Pfizer has settled about 6,000 law suits to date and it has set aside another $ 444,000,000.00 for the resolution of the remaining 4,000 law suits.
Pfizer is expected to pay $150,000.00 per case. Millions of women have taken Prempro and other HRT medications to treat the symptoms of menopause including hot flushes and mood swings. A major study conducted by the National Institute of Health (NIH) has determined that some HRT medications significantly increase the risk of stroke, blood clots, heart attacks and breast cancer.
