Stryker Medical Kalamazoo has issued a safety recall notice for it’s model 6100M1 ambulance cot. It has been found that the head end slide tube, bushings, and head end release rod can break during use, potentially resulting in the head end of the cot to collapse.
The Irish medicine board are requesting that healthcare workers contact Stryker in the UK if they are aware that this device has been distributed in Ireland. Unfortunately, the UK distributor of this device Galls based Dynamed have ceased trading and there are no customer records available to assist traceability to date. However, there is no evidence that affected devices have been placed onto the Irish market. If you have purchased one of these cots you should immediately contact Stryker in the UK.
