Oxygen Masks manufactured by Lifecare Hospital Supplies Limited have been recalled. The masks are the Adult Duo Mask and the Clear View Adult Mask. The problem with the masks is that the oxygen connection point may be blocked as a result of a plastic moulding defect during manufacturing. This prevents oxygen delivery and leads to a delay in treatment. All staff that use, supply or purchase these devices have been advised to immediately identify and quarantine the defective devices. The MHRA in the UK issued a medical device alert on the 14th February 2011.
Any healthcare personnel in Ireland should immediately contact the manufacturer Lifecare Hospital Supplies Limited to ensure that these masks are immediately removed from use.
