A great year of debate was had again this year between St. Mary’s College, CBS and Piper’s Hill in Naas. Among the motions debated were ‘Freedom of speech does not exist in Irish Society today’ and ‘Britain was right to leave the EU’. The Junior Debating League is held each year and we are delighted to support the event.
Mr. Liam Moloney was in attendance earlier this year to present the cup to the winners of the trophy Piper’s Hill School. Speaking about the competition Liam Moloney said “Great credit is due to all who participated in this year’s debates and congratulations to Piper’s Hill. The standard of the debates was very high and all participants deserve credit for the effort put in to their presentations”
Teachers Celine Phibbs (CBS), Eunice Lavelle, Eloise Mc Neely, Sarah Moore (Piper’s Hill) and Margaret Humphreys and Sinéad Cleary of St Mary’s, look forward to another year of lively debate and inter-school co-operation and friendships between students.
