Many people think that hospital complaints should be a straight forward procedure.
This is not always the case. A new website dealing with Health complaints was launched on Monday the 19th of September 2011. Its aim is to help the public to understand where and how to complain about health and social care services.
Health complaints is a tool kit which provides information and support about how or where to make complaints about services in health and social care. It consists of a guide incorporating a leaflet, a poster, a staff training guide and the new website www.healthcomplaints.ie .
Speaking today, Liam Moloney, Healthcare Solicitor, said, “It is important that everyone has the right to make a complaint and be confident that their complaint will be dealt with fairly. Many patients fell aggrieved at their treatment but have no where to go with their complaint. This new initiative will be an effective form of patient feedback”
Health complaints is a collaboration between the complaints handling body, the office of the ombudsman and the ombudsman for children, the HSE, HIQA, the Mental Health Commission and other bodies to include the Irish Patient Association. In total there are17 regulatory bodies and service providers included.
